Have you ever felt helpless upon learning that a student isn’t performing well in class because they’ve chosen to stay up late every night playing video games?Have you ever had to mediate a conflict between students based on something upsetting that happened while online at home?Digital citizenship issues like these are difficult to address because they take place out of the classroom, seemingly out of our control as educators and administrators.Hop aboard and learn how you can partner with your student’s families as co-conductors on a train bound for healthier and more informed digital citizenship practices in school and at home.

Discover how the Learning Technologies Team for the Albemarle County school division has curated and developed a digital citizenship curriculum addressing healthy media use, aligned with a family field guide answering common web-safety questions and providing conversation starters to open positive dialogue at home. Explore these resources to learn how they have laid the tracks between home and the classroom, empowering students and families to make healthier, more informed digital citizenship choices. Whether it be for a single classroom, a school, or an entire division, learn how you too can develop strategies and resources to address some of the most difficult digital citizenship challenges that face our students and classrooms in the 21st century.
