Over the last few years, esports has grown in popularity and is now a billion-dollar a year sport that is continuing to grow. College scholarships and tournament prize money are now available for high school students. In Virginia, the Virginia High School League (VHSL) has approved a one-year pilot program for esports as a competitive activity. With all of this activity, many school districts are starting programs.

This session will focus on the why, what, and how of esports. Included will be a review of how to start a program, resources for curriculum, and information on hardware and room design. We will also provide insight from schools that have started an esports program.
